Accessibility is big on our agenda this year. We have drafted proposed amendments to the National Building Code. Given it to Bureau of Indian Standards. To add momentum, I had a one on one meeting with Urban Development Minister, Jaipal Reddy. On his instructions, the babus of Urban Development Ministry have got into action. We hope to have the amendments in place by the end of this year, on the outside. As far as I am concerned, ASAP!!
To catalyse the Access Movement in India, NCPEDP has decided to institute 'The Ronald Lawrence Mace Awards'. These will be given away every year, on 14th August, to those doing exemplary work for the cause of accessibility and barrier free environments.
